Paul newton1 StarIn Jan 2022 my partner and I started on a self build project building a unique metal clad house and garage in Norfolk. Quotes were invited and we accepted a quote from Belmont Roofing Norwich as it was a company I had been aware of for many years. I requested that the garage be clad first and providing all went well I would then sign up for the larger house project. Both were quoted for.
Belmont staff were friendly and helpful and also quoted for a bespoke gutter system that they would produce as we felt Lindab gutters were beyond our budget.
Work started on the garage in April and after one day only two metal corrugated sheets had been fitted. It took nearly 3 months to clad the garage. (The house was completely clad in two months by CRE). The garage gutter leaked and the garage facia panels were not screwed in place. The window cil had been incorrectly fitted, rivets missing and the 1000 plastic screw head covers were left in a bag in the garage. The workman left without saying a word. I called Belmont on numerous occasions and they promised to rectify the situation. After another 2 months they had not visited the site. I called again and informed them I had rectified the problems myself as I could not leave the leaking gutter any longer. Eventually one of their staff showed up. I informed him that I would be looking elsewhere for the house cladding and that I was very disappointed with the way I had been treated especially as it had cost £9k to clad the garage.
There was an outstanding balance of approx £1500 for the gutter which I was not happy to pay, however, Belmont proceeded with Court Action to recover the money and also had the audacity to ask for nearly £1900 for the initial quote for the house cladding. We could not afford a Court Action!
As I had fixed the gutters and also fixed cameras and lights to them I was reluctantly happy to pay for the gutters however, I would not pay for the house quote as there was no way I would ever use this company again.
Thankfully the Court agreed and I have just settled the outstanding amount.
Belmont could have easily rectified this situation if they had promptly visited the site but they chose not to.
