Just like to say a very big Thank you to both the management and staff of the bird in the hand public house for putting on a wonderful wake in memory of my Aunt Angela. You did the whole family proud, from the lovely food to the most wonderful friendly barman. Such a lovely pub that we hope to visit in the not to distant future.

Arriving 15mins before official morning opening time, the kind barman let us in for very welcome pints of cider. We'd walked cross country for a few miles and this proved to be the lovely traditional village pub like you always hope to find. Beautifully decorated and featuring it's own perfect accessory - a fabulous black Labrador called Bruce who sat with us for tickles and fusses for as long as we were prepared to give them. A couple of plates of cheesy chips for an early snack competed the rural picture. The only thing lacking from our point of view was a choice of coeliac suitable gluten free food but we can't expect that everywhere. Overall a very nice place that's resisted updating and is better for it. Thank you.
