THE CHATWINS STORY

Chatwins has come a long way since John Chatwin set off in his horse drawn van delivering fresh bread to the people of Nantwich and surrounding villages. 

Back in 1913 his mission was a simple one – to bake the best bread for miles around. More than 100 years later, that commitment to quality is still at the heart of all we do.

Of course we no longer deliver by horse and cart. Our Chatwins vans are a familiar sight as they criss-cross the region laden with award-winning bread, cakes, pasties and pies.

Traditional baking skills have been passed from father to son –after John there was Arthur, then Brian and now his son Edward sits at the helm of a family business where old-fashioned values of quality, value and excellence in customer care count.

Our products are made with passion and today we combine those skills with continental techniques. Craft expertise has been perfected as centres of excellence such as the Richemont School in Switzerland which means our customers enjoy some of the most delicious cakes in the world!

Now with more than 20 shops and 300 employees, Chatwins is one of the region’s largest bakery businesses with outlets on most major high streets.

No matter where you go in Cheshire, Staffordshire and North Wales, you will never be far from a Chatwins shop or coffee lounge.
