I needed to recover some data from an external hard drive that had become corrupted. I'm pretty adept at data recovery but was unable to rescue the files using the software on my computer. I was using Recuvera and a few other programs.
I brought the external hard drive to Cheltenham Computer Services on a Friday morning. I explained that the main thing was to rescue the data. Restoring the actual hard drive so it could be used again was secondary.
They immediately diagnosed the problem and gave me a solution.The business is run by an experienced IT professional who operates out of his residence. He has worked in IT for large public-sector organisations in the past. I felt confident knowing that my data was in the hands of a guy who knew what he was doing.
On Saturday, I got a text telling me that the files had been recovered and the external hard drive could be used again. I collected the files first thing on Sunday morning.
