Cornwallis Court

Cornwallis Court is a very friendly care home supporting residents to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible. Our position in the centre of town allows for residents to walk into Bury St Edmunds for a coffee or shopping if they choose or for them to be dropped off with our minibus Cornwallis Court can support up to 34 people in the two residential areas of our Home. In our two Dementia Houses we can support up to 12 people and in the Nursing area, we have a capacity of 11 residents. We use a staff dependency tool to determine the agreed staffing levels for each area of our Home, which varies upon our residents’ needs at any given time. These levels are monitored and reviewed regularly so staffing ratios can be adjusted according to the needs of our residents.

Very disappointed that Cornwallis Court refused to take my Mother as a resident. She has mid-stage Dementia, she is self-funded, the daughter of a prominent Mason (Cornwallis claims to take all Masonic family members), and used Cornwallis as home for her own Father for years. The excuse given was that she was a “flight-risk”. From my limited research, that’s common with Dementia. What else do they think of as too much effort? I’m glad I found a location that really cares at St.Peter’s. They actually agreed to help rather than pass because it may take effort. Check the people who will care for your loved one not just the nicest flower beds!!!

I have worked at Cornwallis Court now for just 3 months. All the staff on every department are kind and friendly. The residents are very happy being here and are very well looked after by every one who works with them on whichever unit. The home has a lovely friendly feel and atmosphere and would recommend.

I have worked at Cornwallis for over 7 years and I enjoy the company of the residents and staff every day. The home always has a warm and friendly atmosphere about it, set in its peaceful location just 5 minutes walk from the centre of town.

In my Opinion one of the Nicest Nursing Homes you’ll find in Bury St Edmunds Lovely Caring Staff who go above and beyond to make Residents feel at Home and Cared for Throughout the Covid Pandemic the Management succeeded in keeping the Home running smoothly whilst making sure the Residents and staff were kept Safe

I worked here a few for a few years and give it a average rating. Staff are overworked but are fantastic at their job, however It's a nice place to workyou have towatch your back as some staff are cliquey and will take no hesitation to get you in trouble. And the management team worry to much about public appearance.
