I had been looking for wick for my storm lamps for ages and suddenly remembered this place as I was passing through. Delighted to find it still there and that they had what I was looking for. Traditional shop with good old fashioned service.

Brilliant, tiny hardware and DIY store. Necessarily limited stock of consumer hardware (did I mention it's tiny?) but seemingly infinite supply of obscure nuts, bolts and essential things and substances for every conceivable repair or DIY project, and the expert advice on how to use them. Irreplaceable - Dorchester would not survive without Dodgson's.

Very helpful man served me. I was very impressed. I needed a piece of hardboard cut to size, for a specific job and was amazed that this was no problem, I wasn't talked to in a patronising manner, like I was a women who didn't know what she was talking about. I explained exactly what I wanted and why and it was no bother at all and at a good price. Excellant, thank you so much, it did the job exactly as I needed, and he couldn't of been more helpful 😁👍

I bought a lightbulb but when having taken the cover off of the light, I realised it was the wrong one, the one I needed was very small and flat. As I was unable to take the dud one out, I took a photo and went back to Dodgsons. They managed to get a number off of my photo - went to the back of the shop and produced the correct one! Not only that they took the incorrect one back and refunded the difference. How wonderful it is, in this day and age, to be served and attended to personally. They have gained a loyal customer in me!!
