Method of Working

Following the collapse of a roof that covered part of the garage premises, the premises remain closed to our customers and members of the public for essential works and remediation to take place.

However the garage continues to operate (as it did throughout the COVID-19 pandemic).  We offer MOT testing, servicing, repairs as usual but by appointment only.

Please contact us by telephone to arrange EITHER a time to leave your vehicle in one of the bays outside the garage OR for us to collect your vehicle from your address.  We do not make a charge for collection and redelivery within a 5 mile radius of Bideford.  We have a limited number of free-of-charge courtesy cars that are available upon request. 

Our preference is to take payment for completed work by card over the phone.  We are therefore likely to ask you for payment when we call you to confirm arrangements for returning your car to you.  Alternatively, we can accept payment in cash when we return your car to you.

Car sales activity remains suspended until further notice.

If you are outside the premises requiring attention, please either call us (on 01237 424242) or sound your horn.

Phoned up Heard Elliott in a panic after a narrowing unforgiving Devon lane appeared to have damaged the underside of my car. The care they took in going through the detail of what happened and the resulting signs of damage was a master-class of the forgotten art of phone service. Their diagnosis put my mind at rest but I took advantage of their offer to check it out for complete peace of mind. They did and I was able to complete a 250-mile drive with confidence the next day. Right in the centre of Bideford too.

Heard Brothers really came up trumps for us during our recent holiday near Bideford. An annoying rattle occurred on the exhaust of our modern-classic Volvo S40. As the 200 mile journey back home was a couple of days away we needed to get an opinion from an exhaust specialist about the need for repair. I'm clued up about these things and all it needed was ten minutes on the job to give us an opinion about the exhaust. I phoned numerous places in the Bideford area for help. The first three calls produced useless results and then I phoned Heard Brothers, in Queen Street, Bideford. 'Bring it in,' the guy said, and I did. He was so accommodating. Just what we needed. I highly recommend Heard Brothers for their thoughtfulness and their helpful business attitude.
