Stayed overnight with friends and enjoyed the exceptional tasting menu for dinner. Food was superbly cooked and presented. The staff were so friendly, helpful and efficient and the rooms we stayed in were luxurious and very comfortable. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and well worth exploring. This was a special occasion celebratory visit and we will definitely consider a return trip. Thank you and congratulations to everyone at the hotel for such a warm welcome and fabulous service.

I expected more from such a highly priced hotel. The staff were very good but we were disappointed that our so-called "Superior Room with Garden View" was small and overlooked the car park with a distant garden-glimpse! The tissue box had x5 tissues stuffed lightly into the top and only x3 breakfast tea bags for 2 people, you had to request milk from reception. The toilet roll provided was about a fifth of a roll fancily folded at the tip. The toiletries were good and bathrobes and slippers provided. The breakfast wasn't great. The poached eggs were hard on the eggs benedict and it was luke warm. The full English was OK but hard bacon and sausage and again, luke warm. I suspect our breakfasts were waiting at the pass to be served as there was a long wait and we were the only two in the restaurant. We could hear waiting staff cheerfully chatting away in the hallway. We had afternoon tea which was good and dinner, the tasting menu, was imaginiative and very good with excellent and attentive service from lovely Maitre D and waiting staff. Extensive and very good wine list. In summary, disappointing and over-priced room, facilities and breakfast, excellent afternoon tea and dinner. Even at half the price we paid it would've been pricey. Will not be returning.

We had an amazing meal (7 course taster menu) and some stunning wine. The wellington with a spicy twist was unbelievably good. I must say the service was truly excellent too. All in all, a great night, relaxing, and unhurried and one definitely for the memories. Thanks and hope to see you again.

A 5-Star experience in every sense. My wife and I stayed at Farlam Hall as part of our honeymoon, traveling all the way from the United States. We found that the area would serve as a natural halfway point between our time in London and Edinburgh to rest and recharge, and also served as a perfect gateway to explore Hadrian's Wall and the English countryside. Little did we expect Farlam to end up being our favorite place that we lodged and dined through our entire trip. The grounds are immaculately kept, the gardens tidy and vibrant perfectly complimenting the charm of the main house and fountain that meets you as you first arrive. The interior decoration is worthy of a feature in Condé Nast; elegant stately clean lines flow from room to room, but the tones and designs of the furniture and wallpaper are calm and cool. Whoever designed this place uniquely understands the space's purpose to set the tone of relaxation for their guests. The staff made us aware that the property went through a full scale renovation during the pandemic and you can tell no expense was spared. I was incredibly impressed by the modern amenities available to us on the grounds (brand new appliances as we stayed in one of the villas, a charging station for electric vehicles, incredible wifi) that were cleverly integrated across the space as to not take away from the historic splendor of the property. Farlam's beauty is only truly matched by The Cedar Tree Restaurant also located within the main hall of the property. The dining room is absolutely stunning and it was by far the best meal we had our entire honeymoon. We had the privilege of meeting the Chef, Hrishikesh Desai, who unbeknownst to us at the time is new to Farlam and is a rising star in the English fine dining circuit. Prior to Farlam he was awarded a Michelin Star, and I would be absolutely shocked if the Cedar Tree does not earn one as well while he is there leading the kitchen. We did the 7-course tasting menu, the cuisine a modern spin on traditional English fare, and not a single dish faltered. Many of their fruits and vegetables come straight from the gardens on site, this is the bar when it comes to farm to table. Desai’s take on Beef Wellington was particularly inspired. The service and plating was exceptional, the wine list elite in its breadth and depth. Looking around the dining room both nights there wasn't a single table that wasn't in total bliss. Breakfast was equally delicious. Every staff member there was professional, friendly, prompt, and devoted to meeting the needs of the guests. Concierge was able to summon taxi service to take us to and from the Wall and Carlisle's train station on extremely short notices. The staff were also superbly knowledgeable on local attractions and eateries. Farlam Hall is a show stopper and an absolute must see.

We visited for Father’s Day lunch. We had very high expectations and we were not disappointed. The place is beautiful and the location is excellent. It feels as though it is in the middle of nowhere when, in reality, it is only a few miles from Carlisle. The hall has been upgraded under new owners and everything is very tasteful and understated. The staff are well motivated and eager to please as well as being attentive. The food is exceptional. The head chef is well known and highly regarded from his time at Gilpin Lodge. His reputation has been earned and well deserved. Quality and imaginative presentation and beautiful tasting. The coup de grace was the chef stepping in to the dining room to meet his guests. A special mention for the maitre’d who is “bang on it!” All in all this place is the real deal and deserves all the plaudits.
