ALL ABOUT ME

I am an experienced private tutor working in the Tendring area. I specialise in Secondary and GCSE mathematics tuition, including Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 GCSE maths, and CSSE 11+ tuition in preparation for the Colchester Grammar 11+ Exam. I am a qualified teacher (PGCE, University College London), with over 10 years teaching experience in London schools.

I am passionate that every child should reach their full potential and that an individual's achievements should be recognised and praised. I believe in providing a caring, friendly environment where children can grow in confidence as they see themselves progressing in their learning.

I provide a very personalised approach to tuition, which is one of the key benefits of tuition compared to learning in a classroom environment. My lessons are matched to the exact level of your child’s to provide optimum progress and to ensure gaps in learning are addressed. I make detailed initial assessments; write individual lesson plans for each lesson; and keep detailed records of your child’s progress. Whether your child is having tuition in a small group or 1:1, I still focus on your child’s individual needs to make sure I bring out the best in all my pupils.

Good relationships with parents are key to enable your child to reach their highest potential; I give honest, friendly advice and feedback, regarding your child's levels and their individual learning program.

Covid-19 and Online Learning

Whilst I teach the majority of lessons at my home face to face, I still teach some of my lessons online. Before the coronavirus online teaching was a new experience for us all, but one thing the pandemic has taught us is that we have the tools and ability to teach and learn online effectively, and can provide the same high-quality tuition.

Some parents have chosen to continue with online lessons for reasons of convenience, such as reduced travel times. Plus online lessons are also a good alternative during periods when pupils or myself have minor illnesses or may need to self-isolate.
