My absolute favourite coffee shop in Brighton - the food tastes amazing, the coffee is made with real skill, and the staff are some of the loveliest people I've ever met. Would 100% recommend!

Really lovely sandwiches! Big on flavour, the stuff in here is very much modern twists on classic sandwiches, cakes, quiches and other pastries. I got myself a cheese and salami ciabatta sandwich with mayonnaise and pickles and happily munched it all the way back to the office.

The third time I have been here now - my experience (TL:DR - won’t be going back): 1st) great chocolate-filled donut, great coffee, service a little slow. 2nd) same chocolate-filled donut, this time a little on the dry side, and still good coffee. Stiflingly hot inside. 3rd) no donuts so went for a slice of chocolate banana cake - very, very dry (how do you get dry banana cake?!). I fed this back to staff, that the coffee was great but the cake was either not fresh or someone had over-cooked it, and encouraged them to try it before continuing to serve it to customers. I was assured it is most definitely freshly made and the dryness is due to the temperature it is stored at (something I have never ever come across). Was offered a slice of something else, but was leaving so declined - not a fan of bad excuses. You’re only as good as your last bake, and twice now it’s been sub-par, plenty more cafes in Brighton!

the short balding man is very rude. He made my coffee very bad and my experience unpleasant. I won't be returning as long as it is a hangout for him and his cronies.

Excellent coffee, original sandwiches, quiches and salads, the pricing is a bit uneven, but happy to pay more for really good food. The cakes are excellent, not the usual commercially produced fodder you find in so many of the Lanes cafes. Lovely staff too, and nice light airy room with tables spaced apart to give plenty of room.
