I'm a care assistant at Great Oaks for the last 5 years, it's a lovely place to work, very clean, lovely staff and the new management are very good. The most important thing is us staff care about are lovely residents and do everything we can to make sure they are happy and safe

I have worked at Great Oaks for more than a year now and I am very content working there, staff are lovely, the management is great and it has a very friendly atmospher. I enjoy seeing the smile on the residents faces everyday and I love looking after them.

This is an appalling home. I won’t even call it a care home. Most of these good reviews are written by staff and management during the time they were meant to be dealing with my negligence complaints. What a joke. It has taken over 11 weeks for them to deal with my complaint and accept fault as the management are so incapable of dealing with anything. I eventually had to go above the homes head and contact Encore themselves as the manager, James Glanville, at this home decided to completely ignore me. My Nan came here for 2 weeks respite and was totally neglected. She wasn’t offered a shower, bath, hair wash or bed wash the whole two weeks. She was 90 with only one leg. Left in unsuitable wheelchair for 13+ hours a day and multiple meds errors. The list does go on. I come from a care background and this is one of the worst management cases I’ve come across by the way that they have dealt with our concerns/complaint. One lady at Encore was very helpful and seemed to care and got things sorted but the managers at Great Oaks do NOT care and clearly lack empathy and compassion that they supposedly hold themselves so highly to. The carers may be friendly and welcoming but are either severely understaffed, not adequately trained or very poorly managed. I wouldn’t dream of recommending this place to anybody. There’s no greater fail than that of the people in charge of caring for our most vulnerable loved ones, being managed by people who simply do not care and are clearly incompetent.

This place is absolutely astonishing. I am appauled by the way the staff and management run this home. Its like a playground. It states I quote on your website " care is about compassion, empathy, and a raft of various emotions but just as importantly, it is about people. Great Oaks is about our residents, their loved ones and our team who are essentially the backbone of Great Oaks.” why is it that staff are not treated equally and made to feel degraded and belittled, especially with the way other staff members act and whispering in the background. A manager who doesnt take things seriously and completely disregards inportant information being relayed to him. And you call that professionalism.. i beg to differ.. this is far from professionalism. I wouldnt recommend this home to my dog let alone my family or loved ones.
