Excellent, was on holiday in area and looking for a meal, came across this pub. My wife is disabled and found it had excellent access, we where greeted by a charming young man who took our order for drinks which were served in 5 minutes, I ordered the sausage and mash and peas,y wife had a child's portion as she cannot eat much, the meal arrived in 2 minutes, really nice the gravy was super tasty. Would strongly recommend. Service was great could not be more helpful.

In an excellent position on the Hadrian’s Wall Path, lunch of crisply beer battered very fresh fish, crispy chunky chips and mushy peas enhanced with mint. Possibly best fish and chips I ever had. Fast attentive service, a very pleasurable experience.

Bit of a strange atmosphere, wanted to sit outside in the garden which was pretty. Went inside and asked for menus, no problem. Decided what everyone wanted and went to order. The same barman saw which of the few tables we were sat at when he came outside to serve someone else....firstly no soup, anyway ordered some other items. Asked a for still mineral water, "we don't do mineral water only tap" went outside again to check what other drink our party member wanted. Went back and the barman was gone so I got a good look in the drinks cabinet....bottles of Harrogate Spa mineral water. When he came back I said are those waters not for sale and he got one out. I said would it be ok to have a glass and ice please and he got a glass and ice.....and then proceeded to pour tap water all over it 🤦‍♀️ordered a "Coke" got a lukewarm type of cola flavoured cordial. Then he said what table number are you sat at, I said oh I didn't check it's just that one there in the corner (could be seen easily and the pub wasn't exactly busy) no I need the number. Went outside to check but seeing as there was one number on one bit of the table and another written in black marker on another it was a bit stupid so I said I'm not sure which number it is but it's either this or this 🤦‍♀️ Either way not friendly at all and the barman's tie said some ridiculous rubbish along the lines of come to The Greyhound a stranger leave as family 🤣🤣 Food was ok not nasty but not good either. A Cajun chicken burger described as coming with salad fries and coleslaw came with a single piece of limp lettuce and no coleslaw bit of a shame as the actual chicken was very tasty. For around £14 not good enough. Barman's strange attitude left a sour taste before we'd even begun really

Fun stop on the Hadrian's Wall hike, perfect place for a break. Friendly staff, food wasn't the best we've had but it was decent. We had the cheese pie which we enjoyed.

Fantastic local pub with great selection of real ales and excellent locally produced food at reasonable prices. Couldn't fault our visit, food was delicious as well as good variety of choices including vegetarian. Four different real ales on handpump so perfect for real ale lovers. Although it's on a road through the village it's not busy so beer garden at front of pub is still pleasant if the weather is suitable. Just ignore the website as it looks like it's only partially completed (as of September 2020) with template text left instead of pub information and doesn't reflect accurately on the pub itself. Menu in photos will change but gives a sample of the menu at current time.
