Hintlesham Hall is extremely well placed for exploring Suffolk’s delightfully unspoilt 16th century wool merchants’ villages, its pretty river estuaries and ‘Constable Country’. Newmarket racecourse and the coastal town of Aldeburgh, famous for its music and food festivals, are within easy reach, as are Lavenham, Long Melford and Woodbridge, with their numerous antique shops. Cambridge, with its magnificent university architecture, and the cathedral city of Norwich are a comfortable drive away. Ipswich’s vibrant waterfront area is just four miles away, making it an idyllic area for guests to visit for afternoon or evening drinks. Karen McIntosh5 StarWe stayed here for a few nights a couple of days ago. Our dogs were very welcome, & we had a large dog friendly room with direct access to a patio area, which was handy getting the dogs out in the morning. The food in the dining room was to an excellent standard, although no side dishes to accompany them, so maybe something that can be looked at. We ate in the lounge area as we had the dogs with us, they also did a separate lounge menu which was very nice too. We used the hotel as a base, plenty to see & do in the surrounding area..

David James5 StarReally enjoyed our one night here, lovely building and nice big room but armchairs as well as excellent bed. Working out the shower controls did not require a PhD in water engineering, which was a blessed relief.
Breakfast was served to the table, liked that! And the quality of the bacon etc was very good. Cannot comment on the dinner service as ate out. But nice place!Sunday 11th September 2022
Mary Curtis3 StarOur room was extremely comfortable, probably one of the best. Bed and bed linen spot on, and exemplary bathroom. Our three course dinner was well cooked and beautifully presented, however although I think we both have average appetites, the portions were very small and left us wishing we had been offered more. My husbands favourite dessert is cheesecake and in all honesty he could have eaten it with one spoonful, it was minuscule, the same as the one I had chosen.Wednesday 18th May 2022
Francois Gordon5 StarSuperb, elegant house and setting, attractive grounds to walk around, rooms nicely furnished and comfortable, staff consistently efficient and friendly. I was there for a classic car club week-end and it was a great venue for such a meeting. But the buffet on Friday was unimaginative and the overall quality of the meal fair at best. The dinner on Saturday was better but not great. A private a la carte dinner on Sunday was good. The wine list was also good.
Overall, this is a great place to spend a few days in the country, but the food needs work to bring it up to the same very high standard as everything else.Thursday 14th July 2022
John B4 StarLovely place to stay, some minor building maintenance going on other than that a very quiet location. The staff are 1st rate, attentive and polite, unlike some other hotels I've stayed at. We had the inclusive meal package and the food was always excellent, at last a chef who knows how to cook a steak well done chefs 👍I would certainly return.Friday 25th March 2022
