Similarly to the other Google review, I rarely complain about trademen and their work. However do feel it is duty to forewarn. I chose Liam to do the work for me as he seemed knowledgeable and also spent time setting out on the first day and getting centre lines etc. which further built my confidence. However reliability was poor and quality of work was worse and I am sorry to say that in the end I felt compelled to get another tiler in to make good and complete the job. I felt that Liam was there for the money and not the work itself.

Firstly I never complain about workman when their work is below par. However I submit this complaint to forewarn other hard working people of Liam Monk and his shambolic tiling. We chose Liam as he came across as knowledgeable and his quote was reasonable but certainly not the cheapest. He requested a sizeable amount so that he could do the work. Initially he agreed to do the work on the Monday but then he failed to attend claiming families issues. He e then came on the Tuesday to prepare the floor. He spent no more than 2 hours at the house. We then simply didn’t hear back from him about completing the rest of the work. He wouldn’t even answer the phone. Finally he responded via text stating that he couldn’t complete the work and that we should get other quotes. He stated that he needed to take a bigger job to feed his family. The work that was completed consisted of uneven floor and hardback boards which have already started to crack. Since this we have had 6 other tilers all on Checkatrade come to look at the work and all six have stated that the work is unprofessional and needs significant work to make it right. Admittedly I should never have paid part of the fee up front but I trusted check a trade. Please be extremely careful if deciding to use this person. When I’ve tried to address these issues he has been dismissive, rude and very unprofessional. I’ve done a significant amount of work in my house and previous houses but never faced these issues.
