Is there a call out charge?

This is a simple one, no! We believe in charging for our time and any parts required to make your property secure, so that’s all we charge for, no call out charges ever.

What does a locksmith cost?

It varies, is the honest answer, depending on what work is required. Even for gaining access to a property, locksmith work can vary from simple key cutting or removing a broken key from a lock, to having to pick or drill locks and replace locks or various door components.

At Locksmiths Corby we only charge for the work, parts and time spent on your job, that means a transparent and fair price for any work we carry out, plus we  don’t charge for call outs and will give a free quote for any job. We only proceed with a job if you’re happy with the work and price quoted.

What times are you open?

For all emergency work we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and normally arrive within an hour. This covers gaining entry, and dealing with emergency key cutting or lock changes, plus break ins. For all other work we are happy to arrange a time that is convenient for you.

Do you undertake commercial or retail work?

If my keys are lost or stolen should I change my locks?

Yes, unless you recover them very quickly the keys could have been copied or in someone else’s hands. If you don’t, this means that your property is vulnerable to a break in at some point in the future.

Should I change my locks when I move house?

Always yes, as you have no idea who has a set of keys, this could be former tenants and previous owners. You leave yourself vulnerable if you don’t change the locks, your home insurance may be invalid if you make a claim for theft and there is no sign of forced entry and you can’t prove you changed the locks.

Can you improve my security?

We will carry out free security checks and make recommendations for any security or lock vulnerabilities. We can give you detailed advice and a full quote for all required improvements, listing them in order of priority, so you can make an informed choice about any work you undertake.
