What is Kiln Dried firewood?
With kiln dried logs, you are burning a totally natural product, the only difference to freshly cut firewood is that it has much less moisture meaning a much cleaner, brighter and more consistent burn. Freshly cut wood is placed in a kiln, this is like a large oven (although only heated to about 80 degrees centigrade) with large fans to allow for air circulation. This process removes the moisture in the wood and as a result ensure the best burning properties. kiln drying means logs will light without problems, burn brightly, and provide long consistent heat. Another advantage of kiln dried logs is that they burn cleanly, this means the glass in a wood burner should not go discolour or cause excess soot or tarring inside the chimney.
