Have eaten fish and chips from this shop through the various owners over a 27 year period. Had cod and chips today found the fish lovely and fine chips. But found the batter very thick ,stodgy and under cooked inside all white.

The batter was a teeny bit tough on the fish but was fine otherwise. Chips were really nice! Prices were very reasonable and the service was friendly and prompt.

Fish was really well cooked. The batter was crispy. We had haddock and cod. The sizes were small compared to where we are from. And we dont live by the sea. Four stars, it would have been five, but for the sizes. Curry sauce was ok. Usual chippy stuff. But! What really let it down badly was the undercooked chips. Sorry, but if a chippy can't get this right then.... We've never had undercooked chips anywhere else in this world.

Does NOT do gluten free battered fish. ...phoned ahead asked if gluten free fish and chips were available, was told they were, only to be told on arrival that it would be steamed fish and gluten free chips ... ...no thanks. Went elsewhere. ...further to this, the owners, rather than perhaps trying to cater to folks with health conditions, resort to trying to belittle myself in public. ...nice. We were told on the phone that gluten free battered fish was available. It isn't. I'm sure the regular fried fish is probably delicious, but the attitude here stinks.
