We visited the other day and had the most amazing time with horse and carriage! The trip took over an hour, through beautiful countryside. The owners gave us good insite to the local areas past and present. It was really interesting to see how places had changed. The horses were very well behaved and very elegant! Two adults and two children did the trip.... I would highly recommend. It's an experience we will never forget :)

We got a room outside which was nice, clean, big and bright.. loved it as soon as we walked in the room, experienced the real 'English' hospitality, sat in the dining room at breakfast time such a real experienced to me.. the warmest welcome from the host Carolin made me want to come back again. Its a very recommended place to stay if you want to spend sometimes in Darly Dale area.

There is no way this site is motorhome friendly, unable to empty waste unless you dropped it into a bucket one at a time, was rudely spoken to when I ask if I could fill my fresh water tank, then once on the pitch went for a walk came back and all the gates to the water, chemical toilet points were locked, and stayed locked for the rest of the weekend. I wouldn't mind however my wheels had only just slowed when out popped the owner £20 her cry, never agai

I am outraged by the whole experience of visiting the B&B. When we arrived it was not at all clear as to why this would be listed as a unique place to stay by the Activity Superstore, who we booked it through, as the accommodation is a house, lived in by the host, who is the rudest and most unaccomodating female owner I have ever met. We were shown our room - an outhouse in her garden- which was freezing cold and according to their website had a 'scenic view'. This was utterly incorrect as the only window to this building was a single glazed, frosted glass window facing the side of her house with a view of her veranda. We have a 10 week old baby and asked for an extra heater immediately on arrival to which she said 'I'm not being funny but it's not cold in here'. I insisted and dressed in several layers of clothing she went a got us an oil filled radiator and a room thermometer from her house to make the point that it wasn't too cold in the room. The thermometer read that it was 11 degrees. (See photo). She argued with me that it wasn't cold in the room and that I needed to give it time to heat up. We arrived at 4pm on Tuesday 29th November. This night was one of the coldest on record according the the news. We had the use of two oil filled radiators - one of which kept turning itself off. See photos. There was a towel rail in the bathroom - which is not a substitute for a radiator as it's purpose is to heat towels not to heat rooms. the storage heater on the wall was barely lukewarm. There was a glass vent in the window which was open fully on our arrival. See photos. The door to the building was not an external door therefore offered no draught exclusion and the draught from it was the main concern as there was also no separation from the door to where we were expected to sleep. See photos. At 4 30pm I called the activity superstore office and spoke with a member of staff who proceeded to mediate between the owner and I. He then asked me to take photos and wait a while to see if the temperature improved as the owner was insisting that it was warm enough and that she had done all she was going to do to assist us. At 5pm the room temperature had improved by 1 degree to 12 degrees. See photos. I called your office again and spoke with Kerry who proceeded to mediate with the owner again. We advised Kerry that we would not be staying in this accommodation as it was unsuitable with a baby. She spoke to the owner who refused to offer us a refund claiming that she had turned away custom for the family room - which I find difficult to believe on a tuesday, during term time. Activity Superstore also refused to compensate us. I find this completely unacceptable. If we were to visit a Holiday Inn or Travel lodge we would firstly be able to control the temperature in the room and secondly our concerns would be taken seriously - not personally - and dealt with promptly and effectively. I am not convinced that anyone from the activity superstore has vetted the place and would be very curious to know what is 'unique' about it except of course the lack of standards in hospitality, comfort and hygiene (bathroom was not clean and there were cobwebs everywhere, decor is also 20th century) Activity Superstore charged us £115 for the privilege yet the room only cost £80 according to their website but nevertheless we were advised that we had to forfeit the voucher due to the inconvenience to the owner (the irony) who was refusing to refund us. I beg you to consider if you yourselves would stay is such unwelcoming accommodation with a 10 week old baby on the coldest night of the year.
