Mario Di Maggio5 StarThis morning, with my business Immersive Theatres, I delivered a 5m digital dome experience to 90 Year 4 pupils at Sythwood Primary School,. I was warmly welcomed by the staff on arrival and found the hall prepared just as I had requested. The morning was well organised with all groups arriving on time. The excited but well-behaved students enjoyed an unusual selection of content: a 360° film about supervolcanoes, an immersive geological timeline of the Earth and a quick look at the current night sky, Thank you Sythwood Primary for a very pleasant visit.Wednesday 18th October 2017
S K1 StarIn our case, not a good setting for children with ASD/Autism.
- Staff have very poor training in how to deal with children with autism. They have a '1 size fits all' method.
- Staff have a very poor attitude to families in need of support.
- Unlawful methods used such as excluding children with ASD (discimination) instead of seeking expert advice to understand the issues. Easier to exclude then actually investigate.
- Use of illegal exclusions is a "norm," meaning they keep kids with ASD or behavioural issues on a reduced timetable for long periods of time to avoid them being present at school. Staff REPEATIDLY suggest this is normal and in the best interests of the child. This is in fact unlawful and illegal!!
- Use of 'cool down' methods used, such as 'take child home as a good will gesture.' This is an illegal exclusion and is UNLAWFUL and it may appear like they care, but it's to avoid showing figures to LA/DoE regarding exclusion of SEN children because it's discrimination.
- They also allow children to run and run and run instead of anticipating the next move, they let them run to danger (car parks, roads, woods) and then they blame the child. They also like to cover up the methods they use. SAFEGUARDING ISSUES.
- Different approaches used for different families too. Methods of illegal exclusions used for ASD children but kids that are bullied and physically have marks on them are told 'it's just kids being kids' and the bullies are still allowed at school.
I could go on and on, but anyone considering this school for children with ASD or Autism, AVOID as it is a very poor setting where your child will not thrive, but suffer.Friday 1st June 2018
Sabrina Mepham1 StarThis school was shocking, it taught me nothing. Teachers don't care about students being bullied, they don't teach you anything. This so called school is pathetic, I hate itSaturday 26th May 2018
