I recently went shopping at Tapi carpets in Gloucester. Husband and I haven’t shopped there before. The store has restricted entry due to Covid 19, staff were wearing visors rather than masks, which made understanding them easier as my hearing is not perfect and I do lip read as a back up. The show room is massive, lots of space between displays, I’d say wheelchair or buggy friendly and also a large roll-end remnants section. We wanted to buy a roll-end as it not a massive room we wanted to update. This meant we paid £90 for a carpet with a full price of around 250. Underlay cost as much as the carpet, but it was still cheaper in Tapi than in another carpet retailer nearby and Tapi’s staff were significantly kinder than the competitors store. We wanted to self fit, as they were honest that they had a couple of months queue for fitting. Although I have done it myself a few times before, John gave me advice on fitting. Some were tips I’d not heard before, so it was appreciated. We nipped over to B&Q and got a few fitting tools based on that advice. I plan on going back with the off cut, and using their “whipping service” where they bind-sew the edging of carpet to make it into a rug. That is a brilliant idea, and I wish more places would do it, as it’s a great way to reduce waste. Most off cuts that won’t do a whole room end up in landfill, it’s not a free service, but worth doing. The bedroom we were carpeting is an L shape, so would always be a wasted rectangle, but this time we can get the off cut finished nicely and it can go next to my sons bed. I’d recommend trying Tapi. I was pleasantly surprised! Decent pricing, good service and staff with personality.

Had a great experience with Tapi. From the knowledgeable staff in store right through to the most excellent fitter and apprentice. We paid a deposit to lock in the sale prices as there was some time between choosing the flooring and the fitting - Tapi honoured the prices for us despite the timescale. Someone came out to measure up our property and informed us that the ground was uneven, so they worked with us to find flooring that fit our requirements and would fit the floor perfectly. Paul the fitter came round and laid the LVT for us and also finished something that was left by the carpet fitters. Genuinely cannot recommend Paul enough. He is fantastic at what he does and we couldn’t be any happier with our flooring!

We went to Tapi and the lady ( dark hair) from customer service wasn’t nice. We ask her about the floor we already did measurements at home and she said they are not correct and someone from the shop have to do it! And she can’t sell us or choose the flooring. I said that they was done correct and we now how much floor do we need, her answer was still no. So we just left the shop, I bought from Tapi before and never have problem like this before.

Checking out potential new flooring for our new home and spoke to Andy Kneebone who was outstanding regarding his knowledge of suitable flooring for our new home......so helpful and an expert in his field of coverings for floors. When we are in a position to order we will be back. So refreshing to talk to a salesperson who really knew his stuff after many years working in the trade. So well done Andy.

If I could give it a zero I would. We rang early this morning making an enquiry about the fitting of some carpet and possibly other flooring for our diner. Only to be greeted on the phone by an extremely rude and abrupt man. Not the sort of attitude I expected from a member of staff of a well liked company. Such a shame as its really made us rethink who we will make purchases off in future. He made us feel like we couldn't have our carpets measured and we were an inconvenience .
