Welcome

The Cricketers Arms is an award winning country pub with rooms located in the picturesque village of Rickling Green, in rural Essex. We are located between the beautiful market towns of Bishops Stortford and Saffron Walden and are a 10-15 minutes’ drive away from Stansted airport.

We serve a selection of real ales, seasonal menus and a great wine list and are proud to have been awarded 1 AA rosette. Our talented team of chefs led by Head Chef and Owner Harry Kodagoda, serve breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.

Within our quintessentially picture-perfect English village setting, you can choose to dine outside overlooking the beautiful village cricket green (you may even be lucky enough to catch the Rickling Ramblers in full swing!) or relax in one of our traditional yet stylish restaurant areas. We are a family friendly pub, welcoming children of all ages and of course those with muddy paws! We also have 3 private dining huts available which are fully equipped with lighting, heating and comfy seating to be enjoyed all year round.

The Cricketers Arms is also available to hire for private functions including wedding receptions, wakes and parties.

We have 10 individually designed ensuite bedrooms, each with all the touches for a comfortable stay. Perfect for business guests looking to stay in the local area and for leisure guests wanting to enjoy the gorgeous country walks we have on our doorstep or those visiting our amazing nearby local attractions, such as Audley End House & Gardens and the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.

Stayed here one night for business. Really nice rooms, the breakfast was absolutely delicious and the staff were 10/10. Lovely relaxed feel at a top village pub/rooms establishment. Recommended for business, leisure or families. The team there couldn't be nicer! I'll be back if required for business.

It was okay, the food was so so. I definitely thought it was going to be better than it was. The pastry on my mushroom and goats cheese main was rock solid, it was as if it had been cooked at the beginning of the day and kept heated for a long time before it had been served.

I had a nice time. The selection of food choices for vegetarian and vegan is good, which makes for very easy dining when you have a mixed group. The staff were lovely, although service was slow on unexpected things, such as bringing out cups of tea. I'd definitely visit again, as it is a lovely restaurant and the food was delicious.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast yesterday. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Hat’s off to the chef, fantastic lunch under very hot kitchen conditions, much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed 👍

Feel like I've been scammed. Booked two rooms and whilst eating dinner one of the staff asked to check both our rooms due to an 'issue with the boiler'. Subsequently came back and said they needed to change my room - which was fine as we hadn't gone up and taken our luggae yet. Finished dinner, went to our rooms and left early the next morning as we had a flight to catch. I then received and email saying that I had been charged £200 (the money was already out of my account) due to a broken sink in the room - even though nothing had happened that could have caused damage to a sink. They sent pictures and it would be fair to say I would have had to have packed a sledgehammer in my bag to cause it. All very strange and am posting as a warning to any potential customer.
