Our quintessentially English Country pub offers fantastic food and drink and top notch service in cosy internal surroundings or outside in our well-manicured garden. The team is here to make sure every visit is a special one, whatever the reason, that’s what makes the K&Q a place you know you can rely on when having lunch or dinner out, whether with friends or loved ones and it’s all done with a smile and genuine thanks. We have fought tooth and nail to keep our pub going through all that the pandemic has thrown at us and now we face an even more uncertain future with the astronomical rises in utilities and the general cost of living crisis that faces all of us. What we do know and acknowledge is that we couldn’t have done it without the support of our team and of course you our guests and it’s now more than ever that we need and appreciate your support.

We’d love to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Had my birthday lunch here. Food was good and the service was too. It was a trip down memory lane for us. We used to visit it when we were courting. Definitely recommend the pub and food. Did not use as a Hotel

Loved it. Great service. Friendly staff. Excellent meal - prawn cocktail starter, followed by fish & chips! Haddock was light and crisp - big fat chips - what's not to like?

I enjoyed my Niece's baby shower at The King and Queen the other Sunday. The pub is very cosy and the staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The buffet was delicious and plentiful. A good time was had by all.

I went with 7 friends for a pre Christmas lunch on Tuesday and to be honest it was the worst meal I’ve ever had. I was so disappointed as I have often had lunch there with a walking group and it has always been very nice. We each had 2 courses for £27 and there was a choice, which we had to pre book. 3 people chose Beef Wellington and could barely get their knives through the meat, inedible. The traditional Turkey dinner was ok. One person had Confit Duck which wasn’t good and I had Hake in a chorizo crumb which, in itself, was good. However, whatever you chose came with roast potatoes, parsnips, red cabbage, stuffing balls, hard grey balls (sprouts) and a huge Yorkshire Pudding filled with gravy. Has anyone had fish and gravy before? We complained right at the start but the chef didn’t have the decency to come out of the kitchen to see us. Desserts: profiteroles were good (probably bought in) and the poached pear was good. One person had Christmas pudding which was hard. 2 had Chocolate Bread & Butter Pudding which came in a solid wedge (as if from a cake) and was revolting, except for the custard. The service from the waiting staff was excellent and professional and they did amend our bill by deducting the cost of 3 main courses. We enjoyed our get together after 2 years of lockdown but how much better it would have been with decent food. I hope other people who are planning a Christmas meal at the King & Queen have a better experience.

Nice traditional pub with a few very nice rooms. Unfortunately, mine was very warm and for some reason two really bright spot lights were left on all night at the bub which shine in the room (blinds not curtains).
