Welcome to The Lamplighter Freehouse, Northampton

The Lamplighter is a warm and friendly traditional corner pub which dates back to 1871 (formally The Overstone Arms). We have been a family run independent free house since 2009 and are well known for our wide choice of quality real ale, farmhouse cider and craft beer. Sourcing locally and supporting other small business has been at the heart of our business since we started 12 years ago. We are a small business and we understand the value of supporting other local businesses in Northampton especially now more than ever.

We have earned quite a reputation for our homecooked food and Sunday Roasts. We offer quality, traditional pub classics alongside well thought out specials. Check out our popular Vegan Tapas night on Tuesdays (see the menu section for more details for whats on each day). Sundays often book up quickly so we welcome advance bookings, we'll always try to accommodate walk-ins on the day, but it's always best to book.

As well as our popular Sunday roast and Vegan Tapas we run a pub quiz on a Wednesday which stars at 8.30, we offer half price burgers on a Thursday and have DJ's play on a Saturday evening. Check out our What's On page to find out about upcoming events.

The Garden

The garden at the rear has had a major transformation and we think you'll love what we've done there. We want to create a welcoming environment inside and out. 95% of the garden is now sheltered if required on rainy days, with heaters . A retractable awning to the rear can be opened up on warm sunny days.
