The Old Bell

At the heart of every village is a great local pub. Relax, unwind, chat with the locals and of course, have a drink. When you enter The Old Bell you step back in time. The building itself is recorded as being the oldest in Henley, dating from 1325 and although the landlady Claire isn’t quite as old, she’s kept the class and charm of a proper public house. Low wood beam ceilings, plush furnishings, bluesy jazz music, quality drinks and nibbles and a smile from behind the bar are just some of what you can expect.

Claire and her team made my friend and I feel extremely welcome. Claire is amazing and couldn't do enough for us. She is extremely warm and friendly and incredibly hard working. She was running a quiz and cooking food, whilst also being a fabulous host. She is wonder woman, she is just missing the Cape. The pub oozes charm and atmosphere. All the locals are lovely and friendly and talk to you. It's like being in the West Country. The food is delicious and plentiful and reasonably priced. We will definitely come back. 5 stars
