Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the meal was very very good considering the number of people and different choices of dishes. I was here for a lunch on a Thursday.
The grounds are beautifully sites, with paved back garden and gravel parking lot adjacent to a pasture. Hills are in the mid distance. Not terribly far from the A14, this is tucked away nicely.
The food was fantastic. I had the cauliflower and cheese pie served with mash atop and a broccoli puree. The crust was flaky and the filling creamy and hot. I hate cauliflower, but I loved this.
Dessert was a pavlova. Plump and crisp with a small assortment of berries and a lemony sauce. Light and refreshing and paired well with an espresso.
With a beer, this ran me to 27£. This isn't good value for the money, and I asked a friend to confirm that feeling. He said: "it was overpriced. The price matched the establishment but the food quality didn't match the price." The (vegetarian) pie was over 15£, it should probably be about 10-12£.
My recommendation: the food is great. But go on a nice day when you can sit outside and enjoy the view, take a walk, and have good company (even if it's just yourself) treat the price for an event, not just a meal.Friday 24th September 2021

John Lisle4 StarGreat Sunday lunch. All had the pork which was tender and tasty. Perfectly cooked vegetables. I am always hesitant about having roast away from home, but this is the best I can remember. It’s not the cheapest but you pay for quality.
