Welcome to The Pig and Whistle!
We are a friendly, country pub situated in the picturesque village of Cartmel, within short walking distance of Cartmel Priory and Cartmel Racecourse.
We offer a choice of real ales, craft beers or fine wines and spirits to be enjoyed in a choice of settings; be it sat by the log fire in the bar, seated in the cosy snug, dining in the bistro or relaxing in the sunny beer garden. Dogs welcome!
Our menu is ever changing and our food is locally sourced. Serving lunchtime and evening meals, with vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Furthermore, for children, we have a 'Diddy Diners' and 'Young Diners' option. Every Sunday we have a special roast for you to enjoy and also the option of nibbles and snacks if you are looking for a lighter bite in the bar.

Elliot S5 StarVisited today, probably will come again next time. Food was a bit pricey but hey its probably just me not being used to the price nowadays in 2022. However the food was decent, and the service overall was great.
And I'd like to give praise especially to one of the waiter/bartender. I was given the bill and one of the food item was displayed more expensive than what I remembered from the food menu. I pointed it out to him and asked for the price I remembered, he agreed to charge me the price I remembered and said if I remembered it wrong he would pay the extra money that I didn't pay. In the end I was right, but I really appreciate his attitude in this situation 👍👍Wednesday 6th July 2022
Megan Jade5 StarEven though they were not serving food the Monday night, we went. We had an amazing time chatting to the locals and the two barmaids (Cat and Becky... I believe that was their names) Me and my partner had an amazing night and are sure to remember the laughs we had for many years to come. If we were staying in the lakes for longer, I am sure we would be visiting many more times. All in all great value for money, and they are very welcoming. Tom Colthup1 StarA disappointing experience from start to finish unfortunately. The poor waitress was extremely helpful given the circumstances and showed great professionalism.
Sadly, the food that was edible was average at best. The risotto on the other hand was extremely poor, it had no flavour whatsoever and had clearly been reheated having been made hours before, if not yesterday. It was topped with ‘smoked chicken’ which was cold and dry. On receiving our bill we spoke to the manager whose response of “I’m sorry you feel that way” was well below that expected. A planned experience for dinner out was unfortunately spoiled by a lack of edible food for half of our party. The advertisement outside for a ‘new daytime chef’ might benefit from being altered to include a nighttime chef too.Saturday 20th August 2022
