Dear Ashwin,

It was very nice to meet you when we visited your establishment on Tuesday. Hurley was the 55th Rising Sun (out of a total of 129) we have visited and yours is certainly one of the highlights of the venture so far.

All your staff are a credit to you and the pub. The customers who joined in the quiz with us also made it tremendous fun. We really enjoyed the Rebellion beers and the food was absolutely outstanding. (Before retiring I was fortunate enough to visit India about 25 times and the Naan at the pub were some of the best I have ever had!!).

First time to the Rising Sun. Have to say my husband and I had a lovely meal. Pub food done well! I had the Caesar salad - a mouthful of chicken in every bite. Very filling. Can recommend to anyone visiting. Friendly helpful staff too.

Not a bad place to stop after time spent at the lock, has a nice beer garden to enjoy the sun. Limited menu on Sunday, service charge is placed onto the price of your food so expect the total to be more than you anticipate. Food wasn't too bad, no cutlery or sauces came with the food, had to go to collect them ourselves before the food got cold. Average experience.

Sadly standards have slipped with the latest changes. The menu is now unclear what it wants to be, with a mix of standard pub fare, a few Indian dishes & pizzas. Everything was edible, but unmemorable. Service seems to have slipped a bit, too. It wasn't heaving, but the table was sticky & not cleaned even after we'd asked. Food arrived reasonably promptly, but after we'd finished main courses, we waited to be asked about desserts & waited & waited... Eventually, we gave up, paid at the bar & left. Positives on drinks & value for money

The pubs under new management. It's a shame that they've change the menu and put up the prices. It's also a shame that 12% service charge is added to your bill without any mention anywhere on the menu or around the pub. There always was a service charge for 6 or more people and I can kinda understand that. Also , we ordered two children's meals and were charged for two Fruit Shoots that should have come inclusive of their meals. They also didn't receive a pudding that was also included and we didn't notice this until we got home ! The lovely manageress was wonderful and helped to sort out our main concerns and refunded the service charge and drinks ... thank you ! £60 for two chicken burgers and two kids chicken nuggets and chips with 4 drinks was extortionate !! I really hope others won't experience this when they come to you We will still be coming for a pint after a walk as we've been doing for years but doubt we'll eat there again .. which saddens me

Pretty disappointed really. Seemed to offer so much in a beautiful building in a lovely village, service was good, as was the menu but let down by the quality. In my Sunday roast, I was served rotten potatoes and my wife, who has a nut allergy, started getting an itchy throat whilst eating her meat roast. Clearly some contamination between the nut prep and the meat roasts. Uncomfortable but not disastrous for my wife, but could be much worse with a more severe allergy. Sadly we will not be returning despite wanting to return to the area again.
