THE ROYAL STANDARD

The Royal Standard is a traditional pub located in the charming village of Upwey on the outskirts of Weymouth, Dorset. The small, friendly atmosphere is a favourite with locals and new customers alike. It is renowned for serving a selection of real ales and is recognised in the CAMRA Good Pub Guide.  Friendly welcome by the owner & staff members, great little pub, the regulars make you feel welcome too, which is lovely. The food great, hot, tasty & good portions, everything spot on. There’s garden area out the back, plus there is sitting area out the front of pub too. Will we go back…? YES Me and my partner have visited this place before & decided to return for the seafood night we saw advertised, we decided to go for the sharing platter, which included a whole brown crab, half a lobster, oysters & some incredible pate made with crayfish & lobster tails, I’m gluten free and made the owner aware of this, he made sure we was well looked after and even got us gluten free bread, all that food for £30 which was great value for money, might even try the steak night next, thanks for a great night! Attended the new Steak Night held here on Monday nights at the pub. I must say the food and service were of top quality. Staff were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome throughout. The food is of extremely good quality and my Steak was melt in the mouth. If you are a lover of great food and a quality dining service, this is the place to go! I took my Dad here for his birthday a couple of weeks ago. It was brilliant! felt very welcoming by all staff and local people. There is a great selection of beers and the Gin menu is brilliant such a variety! I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone passing or looking for somewhere new!

Great pub, great quiz that must have taken a lot of effort to put together, great beer and great atmosphere. The landlord is very entertaining and hospitable. Will definitely be drinking here again.
