Prominently located in the small, quaint hamlet and conservation area of Askett in Buckinghamshire, just 2 miles from Princes Risborough, we are surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Chiltern Hills. Our Grade II listed building, still with some of its original features and historic charm, offers a comfortable, relaxed dining experience for you to sit back and enjoy.
All our food is freshly prepared daily, using local and seasonal produce wherever possible. Specialist dietary requirements can be catered for – please ask on booking.
We no longer offer a gastro-pub A La Carte menu; in August 2020 we launched a traditional pub food menu. You can explore and enjoy the menu in comfort in either the Crowns Restaurant area or the more informal setting of the recently refurbished Stable Bar.
On-site parking is limited however there are no restrictions in the village. We ask that you please consider our neighbours by not parking across driveways and are courteous in regard to noise.

Amy Clark5 StarThe food was absolutely gorgeous, probably the best pub roast I’ve had to date. It was fresh, hot and generously portioned.
The apple crumble was also just so tasty, I could have had a second helping.
The website doesn’t state whether or not dogs are welcome in the pub, but we were allowed the dog in the stable to eat instead of the main bar/pub area. This was fine with us. Everyone we spoke to was friendly.Saturday 28th May 2022

Graeme Roberts5 StarI eat here quite regularly because it has some of the best staff and the best food in the area (and there are many decent gastro pubs in South Bucks, so I do not say this lightly).
Today, I took my walking group of 13 for Sunday lunch. The menu is surprisingly long and varied, with so many nice options that its quite hard to choose. My group had a wide variety of dishes and every single plate was wiped clean!
Plus the desserts are generous and yummy.
Its a family-run place and they are really friendly and welcoming. Thanks to Laura, Charles, Lucy and the staff Elaine and Gareth. And of course the chef and kitchen staff, excellent job.
