David Garcia5 StarCame back this Aug. Still excellent. COVID precautions are serious and reassuring. Space at back open air but covered. My special pork chop was delicious and generous portion.
This report 3 years old. Dinning room comfortable, plenty of space and tastefully furnished.
So many tempting items on the menu, it was hard to choose. In the end I went for vegetarian curry which was creamy and tasty. My companion had a main sized portion of the duck starter which was well received.
Toilets so well equipped, they almost justify a visit in their own right.
Definitely a cut above the average gastro pub and I thought good valueThursday 20th August 2020
M M5 StarIts always a pleasure to drink and dine here! Lovely staff and amazing food. Can sometimes be very busy, especially when there are races at SandownFriday 10th June 2022
Clare Thomas2 StarReally poor service. We ordered 3 roasts and 1 prawn cocktail starter for a friend who wasn't hungry. We asked for the starter to come out with the mains. 10 minutes later it appeared.
After 30 minutes of waiting, we asked for an update on the roast dinners. Was told they would check. The waitress walked away and didn't come back. I then went to the front desk to ask where they were, was told it was coming. 10minutes later, still nothing. The dinners arrived 1 hour and ten minutes after initially ordering. One of the guests is 8 months pregnant and was absolutely starving. I mentioned this and just got a shrug and "it's coming".
Food was actually okay, but not once was we asked if we wanted more drinks. We actually had to ask for more water.
We then were just given the dessert menus without actually being asked and we decided due to the long wait we wouldn't order anything else.
We then paid and finished our water and the extremely rude manager came over and kicked us off our table.
Will never return - one of the waitresses was in absolute tears and we all just felt so sorry for her.
Serious attitude problem that is rife throughout the staff.Wednesday 18th May 2022
Peter Wellden4 StarGood pub but lost some character since Youngs took it over. Kerry is great and is the shining light of the staff. Worth a visit on race days and the food is decent, although a little on the high side.Saturday 14th May 2022
