Called in on spec after just completing a 5.5 mile family walk courtesy of the AA 50 walks in Dorset series and was made to feel most welcome by the manager. The clubhouse sits in an elevated position although exposed which affords it some of the finest views in Dorset from the patio terrace from where we watched the sun go down. The bar area is bright, airy and modern accompanied by a woodburning stove. Had an excellent well kept pint of real ale and local cider for the wife. Although the local village is less than a quarter of a mile away, it didn't seem to be well supported by the local population at large, even though it lost it's own pub many years ago, which is a shame as they should think themselves lucky to have such an asset on their doorstep. Would highly recommend if passing, the only snag being the sporadic opening hours which the manager stated to consult their website beforehand. Non members welcome.
