We walked a long way to get to this pub and when we arrived we were starving! It turned out that the pub was just about to host a wake and they weren’t really serving food. The owner was so kind and said she would make us lunch, she could easily have turned us away. Our sandwiches were great and came with the added bonus of chips!

Idyllic location next to the chapel of steeple Morden near to Ashwell and Bassingbourne. Outdoor seating area for the pub is available facing the sunon summer afternoons. Splendidly relaxing as a venue.

Hadn't been since before covid began so was surprised I could get a booking for Sunday roast on the day. Wasn't until we turned up that we found out the owners had changed, it was very quiet and we began to suspect the worst. No need to worry, the triple roast; gammon, beef and chicken couldn't be faulted. Huge portions and super value. Did not disappoint. Only ask...cauliflower cheese too please for our next visit, which we will be planning soon.

Stopped at this pub in Litlington with two friends, as we were in the area visiting the Fowlmere Airfield Museum and the Steeple Morden Memorial. We thought it looked like a nice little country pub, opposite the church. It was certainly quiet, but I'd say, given the reception we were given, that it is very much a "local pub, for local people" if you know what I mean! Strangers do not seem to be particularly welcome here. UPDATE: The owner has responded to this review with an apology, and explained that the sullen and less than welcoming atmosphere my two friends and I encountered upon entering the pub that day, was probably due to a recent death in the family. I have been offered a free drink if I would like to return. Given that our visit was a "one-off special" meet-up, (I live in Kent, my two friends live in Norfolk and Oxfordshire respectively) I'd say it is unlikely we'd be returning to the area anyway. Now, it may well be the case that The Waggon And Horses is usually a friendly and convivial pub. Never having been there before, I simply wouldn't know. My review is based solely upon OUR actual experience of it on the day we visited the place as complete strangers. If you happen to be in the area, do please, go visit The Waggon And Horses and try the place for yourself. Tell them I sent you and maybe, add your own review here, too!
