I went in last Sunday to do a bit of research and maybe revive my 15 - 20 year old 40k hobby. I spoke with Alan who was just amazing - he had a wealth of knowledge and advice for a returning player. We discussed different armies, changes in the rules, the new painting system and he suggested products to start of my collection. Was great to chat with Alan, he was impartial, friendly and engaging, top marks for him and for Ashford Warhammer!

For quite a while I've walked past modelling shops, the Warhammer shops most of all, but been too intimidated by walking through the door, it's not a rational fear. Today I walked in the shop and Alan was such a huge help, made us feel incredibly welcome and he was free with advice, recommendations etc. I honestly wish I'd gone in much earlier. I had expected the shop to smell (no reflection on Alan or the Warhammer community but if you ever went into the gaming shop behind Ashford McDonalds you'll know why I expected this) but it doesn't, at all. It's clean, well ordered and smells nice. Alan, thank you for your help. I hope to be active in the local community once I've painted Abbadon the Despoiler and the 2 models you gave me. The shop is setup with stations so people can try out painting a model (which appear to be free which is very generous) or/and play through a quick game to learn the basics; I didn't have time today but I'll be back, Alan, oh yes, I'll be back... And I'm going to bring the Despoiler with me mwahahaha!
