The Old Bakehouse cottage, next to the bed & breakfast at Little Arrow, and part of the same family was lovely. You walk through the door to a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom (bath & shower). Up the stairs is the spacious living room and open planned kitchen (which is well equipped). Clean and welcoming and Stuart and Sandra are perfect hosts. The house has a small outdoor seating area perfect for reading a book and a barbecue (we used deposable ones). The area is perfect to explore The Lakes and on the walking trail to The Old Man of Coniston. There are pubs and the town with shops very close by.

If you are Walkers this place is lovely, breakfast was ok, owners were frendly but don't expect refinement! the cottage was very clean and we were presented with a basket of different teas and coffees some lovely biscuits, cleaning cloths and tea towels came wrapped up. Towels were beautiful and bathroom was supplied with pure lakes products a very nice touch. Must add we were allowed as much heating on as we needed. The photos on the advertising is not at all the same as you get, there are no flowers or hanging baskets (I think the pictures must have been taken years ago.) Being a gardener the the beautiful photos were what attracted me to wheelgate so was disappointed. If you are in the older age category then wheelgate is ok for a base to travel from its about 2 miles from anywhere! There is a pub half a mile away but beware they stop serving meals if they have been busy! And very limited parking. We were there in the middle of September 2021 (and children back at school) what a mistake that was, the lake district was absolutely bursting at the seams and we couldn't find any parking or even anywhere for an evening meal booking a meal was impossible In the end we cut our 5 day stay to 4 as we couldn't cope anymore. Wheelgate is a lovely set of cottages and they do bed and breakfast and they love dogs if you need to take yours.
